Only had a ride in one of them once, but I was struck by the extremely well padded seats, and general quietness of the interior. When did you last see one? Gone the way of all 70's & 80's boxes now.

Well NATO bombed the Zastava (Yugo) factory which didn't help...

In a similar fashion to the Lada being an old Fiat design, the predecessor to the Yugo 45 was this beauty:

Essentially the Fiat 600 which remained in production almost unchanged until 1985.

If everyone had to do all maintenance on their cars themselves and couldn't trade them in every few years they might value cars differently (not saying it would be a good or bad thing).

Now even the Russians have a throwaway society :D

It's just recently been posted on the practical classics message board, apparently somebody contacted the BBC editor and asked about it and they said there were actually two marinas used, one was in good conition and used for close ups, the other was a complete wreck destined for the scrapyard which they sprayed the same colour to match so that they could set fire to it, they sold all the useful bits from it beforehand.

OK, I believe it - but not 'anything', sadly. Do you honestly think they'd lie over something so easily disproved, particularly with all the fuss around the Corp just now?

I don't get all the fuss!
They are an entertainment show, didn't the jungle have more than one classic mini which they dropped in the water but no mention of that here?
No one bothered about the brand new fiesta which Clarkson drove through what cannot be much below 1M of sea water? I can't see that lasting long after that!

You either enjoy the show and watch it or you think they are idiots and don't, or possibly think they are idiots and enjoy watching it anyway!

I find it very entertaining as it is supposed to be :D

The germans had a man on the moon during WW2 and I actually hate Top Gear

I did not laugh during the boat race, not during the van challenge and not while the ... was on telly.

And I want to make clear here once and for all times that the Marina is the worst car ever and I never will own one...

ps: Kate: I do not know why but I would like to ask why you pay a licence fee ;-)

I loved my Marina - Hated my Metro - Kept breaking down in 2 Fords - Crashed my Mini - I could go on through a list of about 30 or so cars, but, the most hated of the lot has to be a Viva Estate !!!!
