East London Auto Electrician? Dodgy wiring in '67 1100
Hi, can anyone please recommend an auto electrician preferably in the East London area? We recently bought a 1967 Morris Minor 1100 that has had recurring electrical problems - interiors light flashes on and off when indicator is on, indicator stick lights up only sporadically, headlights stopped completely and have been quick fixed but now back lights aren't working but brake lights, headlights and indicators are....

Sounds like a rewiring job. It could be that some things have been wired up to the wrong fuses. There is no way that the indicators should affect the interior light as they are both on different circuits. Does the wiring look as though it has been messed around with?
If you are feeling a little adventurous you could start with page N44 & 45 of the BL Minor Workshop Manual (you can download it from the internet) and check that you have the correct wires into the control and fuse boxes, then check the other ends of the wires are correct using the colour codes and check that they go where they are meant to. Another point worth checking is to make sure that all the components are properly earthed otherwise they will affect other components

Hi all, thanks for the advise. We do have the manual with the working map but unfortunately we are also quite incompetent with regard to cars and would have no idea what we were looking at. dp, thanks for the very kind offer to come and have a look. Do please let me know when you are free, I'm off from 18 Dec until 2 Jan if any dates then suit. Thank you!
