Series 2 Seats Re-upholstery

In the process of re-upholstering my series 2 seats could anyone pl confirm this setup is original and better still has anyone did it lately?

I can do with some help on this

Haven't done any refurb on my seats (yet)

I was under the impression that the base plate on the series 2 seat was metal?
What year is the car? My Series MM seats are of similar construction though.

The base plates on the seats in my series 2 are solid metal with like 'ventilation holes' in them.

Mine is 1953, but I'm not sure this is an original setup. I was told that series 2 had 2 types of seats, one like MM and the other might be like mine, I hope....

The Series MM / early Series II seats had horizontal pleats, the late SII seats had metal bases and vertical pleats. I assume the change over came when the car was re styled.

Yes they are Series MM style seats, and I thought mine were tatty!.
Onne, I was refering to the 1954 restyle but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Yes your spring assembly looks just like mine. I dont know why I said '53 because mine is a '52!

So you people were right! While my back seats were correct for the car

My front seats were actually MM type seats

Now I have two choices:

1 find a pair of early series II front seat frames (looks quite impossible right now)

2 sow the front and back covers and slide them over like the later style seats... and this looks like a solution

Mark I might have one Series 2 seat if that will be of any help! but have to check!

speaking of series 2 seat I also have a pair of seat with a metal base plate what are these off? series 2 also?

I'd go with the sewing option Mark. Otherwise you will have to buy another set of front seats. I'm sure it can be done.

Yes Frank the metal shaped backs are Ser II seats.

Well Mr Gouder said he could do it... and I also think it is the best option since I was not very keen on tacking the back cover to the metal backrest.

And that is also why the Morris Company a few months later adopted this same system I think!!

I shall post some pics just in case someone gets into the same trouble

A good idea - we seem to have loads of pictures of welding/underside replacement but not enough of the softer side! Perhaps we could all dig out pictures of various interior makeovers and submit them to the Webmasters so they could be put in Tech Tips for reference.
