Is it worth what ever hassles there are to fit a pair of 1.5 inch SU carbs that suit larger mini or other BMC A series motor.
Tell me about the process and options - just that there are some forsale at present

A singular 1.5 would be a good upgrade in itself. Twin 1.5 would mean hassle with set up and probably choke the engine too much.

A single HIF SU would be a better bet.
As Vizard says in his book the twin carb inlet is not very effecient.
Set up is easy with either if you use a rolling road with an operator that knows what he is doing. If you are not prepared to have the carb/s set up correctly stick with a standard engine.

Twin 1.5" are really for the `B` series engine.

Twin 1.5's on a standard Minor engine are too much. They are really too big for a 1275cc motor too, unless it is in a high state of tune. A single 1.5 on a 1098 would be the best choice. Mated to a suitable inlet and exhaust and mildly worked head you could get 55 to 60bhp and more importantly, bags of torque - something that would definitely suffer with twin 1.5's
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
