I can tell you that being strapped to a bed for the benefit of your neck is NO FUN AT ALL ... happened to me after I got knocked off my bicycle, luckily it just had a spot of concussion and smashed my knuckles on the brake lever, so I got off pretty lightly for not wearing a helmet! (yes i do wear a helmet these days)
