tyre question
i've been trying to get some tyres for my mog, but 145 14s seem to be in short supply. there seems to be more availability for 155 14s, so does anyone know whether i can mix these up? eg a couple of 155s on the rear and 145s on the front.

Are the Minor specialists all out of stock of 145s? I like the Bridgestones that Bull Motif sell.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

I agree -although 155 tyres are slightly on the wide side - they work fine. And yes - keep them on the back if you have a pair of 145 tyres for the front. You are NOT allowed to mix sizes on the same 'axle' - dunno how that works when running on the spacesaver spare tyres on modrn cars - but I expect there must be an exemption.

AFAIK its to do with temporary use only and a speed limit been applied to their use....bmcecosse wrote:dunno how that works when running on the spacesaver spare tyres on modrn cars - but I expect there must be an exemption.

thanks for the tips. any idea where to look for the toyos? one of my tyres appears to be a camac, and the others are goldline. no idea where they came from! have also tried whacking in the tyre dimensions on web searches, and they nearly all have a prompt for "profile". Not sure what i should enter for this. My tyres merely say 145R14. i have been quoted £75 from a local garage for a couple of 155 nankangs, fitted and balanced, but would prefer to stick to 145s, and also note the negative comments about these things. i could order an entire set of 5 bridgestones from bull motif, but at the thick end of £200 seems a bit much when all i really need right now is a serviceable spare.

They sell them individually too, and if budget tyres don't worry you they also sell Camacs:docgibbons wrote:i could order an entire set of 5 bridgestones from bull motif, but at the thick end of £200 seems a bit much when all i really need right now is a serviceable spare.

Got my Koyo's from www.morrisminorpartsbath.co.uk. Nice chap to deal with (Andrew Eccleston). Also seen them on one of the other suppliers sites, can't remember who. Mine were £30 each.docgibbons wrote:thanks for the tips. any idea where to look for the toyos? one of my tyres appears to be a camac, and the others are goldline. no idea where they came from! have also tried whacking in the tyre dimensions on web searches, and they nearly all have a prompt for "profile".
