Clear version of LMP111?

For my reversing light addition to the traveller, I would like to fit a clear version of the flat rear stop/tail lamp. Does a suitable lense exist? I'm not too well up on the varieties of earlyish front indicator/side lamps to know if any of them are suitableish!

Flat lenses are available of course - in red/amber/clear - and can be used with the normal holder and rubber internal sleeve. Is that what you mean ? I do think though you will get more light from the bee-hive lenses.

Problem with 'flat' lens is getting a large enough wattage bulb to fit.

I guess that's why the bee-hive evolved ? Although - did early Travellers not have flat lenses - and presumably 5/21 watt bulbs for side/brake ??

Yep, double filament bulbs is no problem, you will need a different bulb holder and rubber.

Early travellers did indeed have the lovely single flat red L488s.

Please do bear in mind that if you add another light into the post, that some strength will be lost, and the post might need some reinforcing.

Having just had a white van stuffed into the back without damaging the worm ridden ash frame, prepared to risk another hole! The question was whether/what is the the clear flat equivalent of that lovely (until smashed) red rear traveller light? Many thanks for your thoughts, Pete.

you can buy the metal and rubber bit separately just use a brake light bulb 21 W fillament and a clear lens.

As a thought why not use coloured bulbs which are available easily and a full set of white glasses - or better still black tinted ones!

If you are talking about the glass type lights rather later larger diameter lamps, you will get very little illumination. I have them on the back of my van and it's dark in the mirrors. They are only good for letting people know you are backing up. With no reflectors, the lense just scatters the light.
On a side note. The flat lense and the beehive lamps use the same light bulbs. I feel the reason for the beehive lense is the result of the need for shorter sockets where there wasn't enough room to swallow the longer body.
Get some good lamps and mount them below the bumper or around the number plate.

OK you win! Just been playing with some clear lenses at my understanding electrical factor, and they don't look right somehow. So, yes, I'll sling something under the bumper. Any thoughts about "right" looking lamps for that purpose?

get clear lenses with LED bulbs in them, they shine red but are "clear" so look right behind a clear lense. i am very shortly getting wider wings on the rear of mine and don't want to ruin JLH's efforts with my original lights, so i'm fitting clear lensed trike units as rear lights and mounting them on the bumper(same as my indicators). should look pretty nifty! i hope! Fitted with red LEDS. just a thought!
