CRUNCH-That's why I didn't want a showpiece Moggy!

Post by linearaudio »

Waiting in the middle of the road, brakes on, right indicator on, ready to turn right when weeeee-crunch. Flattened quarter bumper iron, broken rear light lense, bits of white van frontage all over the place. His response? "You came from nowhere- I didn't have a chance to stop!!" I CAME FROM NOWHERE?? Still can't work it out!

Useable now, not going to let a rearranged back end stop me! Had a very cheap and nasty tyre compressor/hazard lighty thing in the shed which had a detachable red plastic overlense, which is now stuck on over the broken rear light with copious quantities of windscreen mastic used as an adhesive!!

Sorry to hear about that one LA - Hope he was well insured. Remember to claim for the 'whip lash'! You should get yourself up to Casualty with sore/stiff neck and back !! And there may be further damage to the car inside the boot area. Has the bumper mounting bolt not be pushed forward by the impact ?

I hope you took plenty of photos of the accident. If he made those comments you can bet your life he will lie through his teeth on the claim form and you will end up 50/50 and coughing up your NCB. Sorry to be so pessimistic, I've been there. Just happened to catch sight of the other persons claim form and was accused of some ridiculous speed and leaving skidmarks all down the road. In a Series MM !!!
Anyway best of luck.

No witnesses. Can't afford to go through insurance- if by any chance it went 50-50 I wouldn't get re-insured (had 2 unbeleivable 50-50's in the last year. Got a statement from him that it was his fault and that he will stump up. Told my insurance company-they were totally disinterested, must be a very regular occurance for them!! I begin to see why some people don't bother getting insured!

Sorry, I have to take issue with this if it is not true, this is one of the reasons we are all paying high insurance premiums. Just because lot's of people do it doesn't make it right in my book. :x Charlie.

I was really - but many do it! And quite often the sore neck etc doesn't set in for a day or two.

tomany false claims thats part of the reasons for high premiums ,i dont have a problem if genuine cases for injuries but not for false claims,

My sentiments exactly. Totally fed up with people making false claims. We all pay in the end. Neck is fine, honestly. Not with classic insurance yet as I was waiting for my "ordinary" insurance renewal (only had Molly a few months, previously driving porridge!) As I said, no faith whatsoever in insurance companies seeing facts straight, so avoiding a claim at all cost!
Got ratty with an aquaintance who rang me this morning. He smashed his car up driving it up his farm track when drunk (he hadn't been on the public road in that state). He was suggesting that we tow his car onto a local lane, then claim a deer had run out in front of it... Don't need friends like that!

Don't turn up to casualty claiming a painful neck, because whether we think you're talking out of your (insert an orifice of your choice here) or really actually in pain, we're prone to strapping you to a bed for the protection of your neck, irradiating you loads, and generally you'll have a very unpleasant time.

Also, if we do think you're putting it on (and believe me, we're pretty good at telling, we see it more than people act it), then you won't actually get anything useful out of it. No diagnoses of whiplash, nothing like that. Nothing you could *claim* for.
