Grille

Post by Bazzalucas »

Did the Minor 1000 ever come with a chrome or stainless steel grill? If so, do they ever turn up at autojumbles, eBay, etc? My '58 has a body color grille, which looks nice, but I think a nice, shiny grille would really be the ticket.

Not as standard although it is something I am going to do when I get round to sorting the bodywork out.....

You may be able to use the slats from a Mini Cooper grille - and fit them into the Minor .

Oh, if only Mini Coopers were as common here as there! So, is a body color...colour...grille correct (as correct as bright yellow gets), or is the proper color the Old English White-ish?

Most Mini spares places in the UK sell the Cooper "style" of grille. In fact, from memory (I may stand corrected) a lot of Minis had chrome or stainless grilles. The slats would have to be removed and grafted into the Minor frame but I don't see too much difficulty in doing it.

I'm just not sure if the Cooper slats are wide enough - I have one somewhere - I'll look it out at the week-end!

Yes the only ones I have ever seen were made to measure so to speak.
Cheers
