Moggy Insurance for new driver? Please help!!

Hi there. I am 16 at the moment and am looking to buy a Traveller for my 17th and when (or rather if) I pass my test. The problem is trying to find an insurance quote that isn't more than it is on a Ford Ka

.
I have tried Direct Line and they don't seem to insure cars older than 1983.
I have also tried Footman James and they don't insure anyone on it under 25.
And lastly Norwich Union insured me for £1800 which I didnt think seemed right althought I may be wrong. Please could anyone help me with:
1. the best insurance company for a new 17yr old driver
2. if anyone else has just got insurance and are around my age please could they tel me of their experiences.

One last thing, as I am looking for a White Traveller 1000, I thought I may ask if anyone know of any

The MMOC club insurance scheme (through AON as per ad in club mags) has always offered very good rates for young drivers.
AON has recently bought Footman James, and will be using them for the club scheme so if you have ANY trouble to get a quote relating to the MMOC club scheme please let me know ASAP - I'm keen to know it's ok otherwise it needs urgent discussion at the club AGM in a few weeks.

Some years ago the MMOC spent a considerable time negotiating with AON to ensure cover was available for young drivers at a reasonable rate.
I was able to insure my daughter as a learner driver on my policy driving my Series MM, and subsequently when she had passed her test on her own policy with her Traveller.
The AON scheme is specifically tailored to the requirements of owning a classic car and operates an agreed value policy which in the event of loss or damage to your car pays out to the value agreed between you and the insurers, whereas an ordinary insurance company would only pay out what they consider to be the market value of the car, regardless of condition. Im 17 and got insurance on a 2 door saloon with footman james for £997 fully comp.

Give them a ring and they should sort you out.

£997, that sounds expensive to me but maybe I'm out of touch

That sounds expensive to me too. Paticularly as they are now owned by AON, the Club's insurers. Has anyone tried Brit Insurance recently?

Hi again, Just to let you all know I received a call from AON yesterday quoting £1020 to insure me on a 1000 with my parents added on as well. Once again I would like to thank you all for advising me with what I should do. I'm now looking out for a saloon due to storage issues (garage taken up) for a traveller.

Oh I sure will. Found three possible contenders. I need a bit of help, where on the forum should I post a comment asking if people know of the car/owner etc.? should it be in the general section?
