Another newbie!
Hello everyone, I've just got my first woody! Used to have a Mk2 MG 1300, but this is the first shooting brake.
A bit of advice if poss... the car is a 1958 with trafficators, but the previous owner rebuilt the car with.. an MG 1300 engine and leather seats presumed from a rover. They look well but should I return them to the original? Also, can anyone advise if the price of this car would be affected by the changes (was £1k too much to pay?) She has a towbar and the original number plate, needs brakes looking at before mot, but the rest inc. wood is in good condition.
Look forward to using her in the spring! Best regards, Ken

Welcome aboard! many many new members these days - the Morrie world is expanding fast. If the seats suit you - just use them! Price always depends on condition - if you are happy with what you paid - don't worry about it. You can download a manual for the car from here http://homeweb.mah.se/~lurija/morrisminor.pdf always very useful!

Welcome Ken, £1k sounds reasonable for a Trav with good wood. I would say keep the engine, many of us have 1275cc Midget,Marina,Ital engines for modern day traffic conditions, depends how much of a purist you are. The same with seats, Metro ones are quite favoured, I have Volvo seats. Let us see some pics soon as. Regards, Charlie.

Hi Ken, welcome aboard!!
You will have to come along to the Northern Ireland branch now your a Minor owner, we meet on the first Thursday of ecah month in Cregagh Road library at 8.15 and in December were partying for Christmas. Check out our NI site http://www.mmoc-ni.co.uk/
Sounds like you got a bargain. Take it to Larne for MOT, definately more sympathetic than Mallusk!!

Presumably you all have to sit very quietly and make signs to each other?
Over here we usually meet in a pub.

This message board is like a family - you can't choose the other members!! But remember engine oil is thicker than water.

Welcome to the forum, Ken!
Enjoy your car, would love to see some pics, and my own advice FWIW would be to drive it for a couple of months at least till you get used to it, and then make the decisions about whether to change the seats, engine etc.
IMO there isn't really a "should" as far as Minors are concerned, particularly if any mods have been made in such a way as to be reversible if a future owner wanted to reverse them.
Look forward to seeing you around on the forum
