My original front door seals were falling apart so I bought some new ones but went for the plain black rubber option.
I find they make the car doors quite difficult to close - they need a bit of a slam! Hopefully they will ease off a bit when they compress in use, just wondered if this was normal and if its the same for the original type - should I decide to change.
I found the seals just too much and discovered ESM do a 'soft' version, (only in black) which makes shutting the doors so much easier.
I still had to do a bit of flange work though as I found it was tight in some areas and barely touching in others!
I replaced my disintegrated ones on my 2 door saloon with ones from a Rover 416 (1997). The doors needed a slam to shut at first but they are ok now they have bedded (squashed) in.
Keep meaning to reply to this post but so many things to do!
I measured my new seals and they are around 17mm diameter - quite big really, I will see how they bed in but I might go for the original coloured type - don't like all this door slaming.
