FWD was the intention, as it was a relatively simple conversion. But as I mentioned probably not really commercially viable. I too prefer the RWD route, hence the development of the K series and Zetec kits.
As a one off maybe, but the Zetecs are available at the same price as a std rebuild of a 1098 motor so will try and push these first.
When the Duratecs are cheaper then yes I'm sure that it will be our next offering.
i've got mgf wheels. 16" on the rear and 15" at the front...big tyres on the rear, not so massive on the front...it looks like a tractor!! you either like it or hate it...i happen to think it looks okay!
and back to the thread...Jonathon...at what time is there no one at work so taht i can come in and steal everything that isn't bolted down??!!
Nope
We have been working closely with Omex power and Raceline to develop the Minor Kit. The Zetecs we use are the 2.0L Focus blacktops, fitted with the Raceline water rail and wet sump, both in keeping with our philosophy of only using top quality engineering and products.
Type 9 as its easier to play with the ratios. Made the mistake of buying the V6 versions as we use with the K series only to find that the after market alloy bell housings are for the std 2.0L only. So on these we have a 1" spacer plate. The Alloy bellhousing is about a 1/4 of the weight of the standard unit from Ford.
The MT75 box has the reputation as M=more T= trouble but it is a stronger box top be truthfull, and I think it will be our choice on our space framed track car development over the next few years.
i thought that it was the input shaft length on the v6 boxes.
the main problem with the mt75 box to the t9 box is thegearlever position above the output shaft but hey just means a slightly taller gearbox tunnel. ;)
It is the length of the shaft that is a problem. But there are 3 versions of the taller geared long input shaft gearboxes, some of which cannot have just the input shaft swapped.
Seems as if you are thinking of a Zetec conversion then ?
Just out of curiosity do you run the emission control equipment on the Zetec/K series conversion? And is there a particular reason for having a dry sump, seems a little overkill for a road car?
The new web site looks great by the way, nice to be able to look at your products.
Cheers Rod, hope to add loads more soon
We run throttle bodies on all of our engines at the moment, but will be introducing an entry level std set up soon. We had the 170bhp version tested on the cat tester at our local MOT station, it passed the cat emmissions even without us having fitted one
The sumps we use are Raceline wet sumps, which are a stunning piece of design and build quality. We chose this as a dual purpose item good for road and hard use on the track. There are cheaper options on the market, but only by a small amount, so we decided to fit the best.
i had thought of a zetec conversion in my other car, i have a lot to do on this traveller at least both front chassis rails.
did you find any pic's yet of the mgf minor?
Blimmey Morris62, looking at your signature pic thats one rusty looking traveller you have there But at least you have a nice big workshop to build it in.
cheers, Daniel

The pulling power of a Turbo Diesel! The voices may not be real, but they have good ideas.
