Absolutely brilliant and the whole of Stevenage is celebrating! There are already plans to name a street after him when the town centre is re-developed (Stevenage was first new town and also first with full pedestrianised town centre- apparently-but buildings beginning to really show their age). All I want is for McLaren to bring him and the cars for a huge party!

Agreed especially after all the penalties and dodgy decisions he has had this season, but those last laps were tension filled.
Newtown in Powys was established in 1279 when a charter was granted to hold a weekly market.
I assume the new street will lead to his personal parking space at the local supermarket.
Really I always thought Newtown in Wales was the firstStevenage was first new town

I hate to p1ss on peoples bonfires, but Ive recently noticed that not many people apart from avid watchers have ever really cared much about F1, myself included. Yet as soon as a british person seems to be doing well, the entire nation pretty much seems to perk up and become interested. It was the same with the Rugby a few years back when we won the World cup, Im an avid rugby fan and watched all the games. Yet i know people that didnt care until we were suddenly in the final, then all of a sudden everyone cared!!
Am I being a depressing git, or are we really a nation of glory supporters?
We seem to have given up on Andrew Murray as well......

It was poetic justice to see them celebrating when another mechanic walks up and says (by my lip reading) "Lewis was 5th"The faces of the Massa supporters were a sight when they realised Hamilton had finished fifth !!!!!!!!!!!
I'm an avid watcher - always have been. Even in the dreadful seasons where Ferrari cheating tactics became strongly established. Now their rule breaking is so established that nobody even thinks to enquire when Massa gains points purely on team orders, as we saw Schumy do it ad infinitum.not many people apart from avid watchers have ever really cared much about F1, myself included.
Glory supporters? I guess that's a depressing way to see it when people want to support their country. Nobody can follow EVERY sport so I don't have a problem with people becoming interested when Brits are in with a chance of being the best.
I found the rugby good fun to watch despite not being a fan, however I hate football (mainly because of the hero worship of bad sportsmen / wifebeaters / thugs etc..) and always will, whether we win or not.

Same here Ray and I have even occasionally paid to watch it.I'm an avid watcher - always have been. Even in the dreadful seasons where Ferrari cheating tactics became strongly established. That`s why I mentioned itKevin, he already has a personal parking space at Stevenage ASDA marked out specially with a racing car!

It wasn`t me Ian and normally when a topic is moved there is the option to leave a ghost copy, but I thought this had been here all the time but there again my memory is doubtfull in the least

Family visit actually. My son just happens to live in Melbourne and his flat overlooks the circuit.

Well that is handy.
Im not an F1 as you probably guessed. But ive been told by many a person thats its something you have to go and see to get the real feel of....much like watching a band live.
So, going to watch a grand prix is on next years to do list!

Best watched at home I think! All that hassle to get in/hassle to get out - and you only see the one section where you are standing. Can't see the fun in that myself!
Yes Ian - I agree - a thread I started (different subject) has been moved too, and no indication of who/why/where has been left! Would only be polite I think! At least a pm could be sent explaining why etc!
