Well plenty (including myself) have posted links to e-bay and trader sites showing items for sale. As long as you don't breach the T&C's I don't think there's a problem.

There is already a link to the (edited) website (and other traders) via the home page (links) which states that no recommendation is implied.

It looks to me that if you are in with the people who make the decisions then it appears you can have what you want. We wanted a paid advertisement to advertise our annual rally ,we were quite happy to pay the same rate as a trader and were refused by the commitee. We still havnt had a response as to why? Is this person paying for an advertisement? Is he/she a club member? . Does this now mean that we can advertise our annual rally with a paid advert?

This club is starting to get like a bunch of school girls falling out in the playground. When will YOU ALL get the fact that WE are collectively a club with the same intentions in mind.... ie to run, restore, play with, enjoy (ect) Morris Minors. I am sick and tired of all the bickering and falling out over stupid little things. It's no wonder that breakaway clubs exist for other marques if this is what they have to put up with..... GET A GRIP AND STOP BEING CHILDISH !!!!!

Well in theory you're right about one thing,

Yes, breakaway clubs do exist, but I would ask you to seriously consider the reasons for this before making any assumptions.

I did actually post the Club's official response to this question recently, as follows,
Judge wrote: They are not an official MMOC branch (and do not wish to be even after repeated requests). They can of course advertise their event(s) in the 'other events' section of the magazine.

I, for one am not taking any sides in this argument. I understand the reasons laid out by the club for some of their rules and I understand the counter arguments for the individuals (and traders) who oppose these rules (However, you can't have it all ways.... and you know what I'm talking about!). I just want to say that, as an individual, with no real affiliation to club or company, that I just want to be a menber of a club that pulls in the same direction as its "normal" members.... Use the AGM if you like, to get change, but get real and stop annoying the fee paying members of the public or else they are likely to stop being so.....

So do I, hence my posts. I don't know if you have any active input into the Club, but I like think I do, and have its best interests in mind.
Over the years I have seen many complaints from members on here, and rather than see these continue and/or lose members, I am trying to ensure that each complaint or query is answered.
PSL184 wrote:..... stop annoying the fee paying members of the public or else they are likely to stop being so.....
This I find very offensive, and from the support I have received both on the open site and pivately, feel it is totally unfounded.

In fact I believe it is posts like this, with an apparent complacency, that will cause members to leave.

Additionally if you check some of my earlier posts, you will find that in fact I have requested that any complaints be sent to me via PM, so that I may forward them to the committee for a response. If you have any further comments to make, I would suggest that you do likewise.

In the meantime, should there be anyone reading this, that like PSL184 would prefer that I make no further attempts to resolve issues raised, then perhaps you too would send me a PM with your views.

I've only been a member of the club for less than a year but am I right in thinking there is a bit of Ill feeling in some quarters?

Also belong to another group of Classic Car Enthusiasts were there is no Chairman, no Committee and yet there has still been a major falling out between certain individuals.

So Morris Minor Owners Club Members you are not alone

What a shame, why not just get on with enjoying these lovely old cars and forget about the bickering

I'm with Judge on this one - rules is rules surely. But it does seem the MMOC Committee are very much a law unto themselves - it seems they even vote on new committee members themselves - it's a closed shop! The 'membership' has no say in it!!
On a similar subject - There is a Mod on here who publicises a Morris Minor Repair/Spares Company on his profile notes - surely against the rules re Mods not publicising or favouring suppliers ?

Perhaps the original post would have been better addressed directly to the committee via PM rather than on this site :-?

The whole point of this post Louise was to get complaints off of the open site, and submitted directly to those who can answer them. A process agreed by the Committee itself.

[quote="PSL184"]I, for one am not taking any sides in this argument. /quote]

I reiterate my opening statement ^^^

Judge - if you wish to take offence then that's your choice. I wasn't having a go at you nor any other individual. I was stating MY feelings on what I see as petty bickering. I have no involvement in the club other than being a paid up member and therefore have an "entitlement" to air my views......

Yet, with respect, you seem to be trying to stop others doing likewise.

As I said in my last post, if you want to discuss this further please send me a PM. Rest assured that I have an open mind and would be only to pleased to listen.

It has been pointed out to me that my original post could be seen as criticizing the Club, although this was not intended, and could result in my being removed as a Moderator. I have therefore removed this post.
