I picked up another Moggy today, it has sat in a garden locally for the last 3 years, seems everyone is right in that once you get one you can't help yourself saving more of them !!!!

Still got room for one more in the garden if I get rid of the lawn and the fishpond hee hee.

Heres a pic of it, needs new front wings and the inevitable bit of welding here and there. Can anyone tell me the approved method of removing the front wings ?<br>Image<br>

You are a brave man ! The wings 'just' unbolt. Problem is - the bolts are usually horribly rusted - and the captive nuts break free at the slightest effort. I would very carefully survey the whole car before starting to spend ££££ on it!

That paint doesn't look too bad and a good T Cut and polish should have it looking quite presentable. As BMC says, survey the whole car for rust before spending too much money on it, however, if you are doing the welding and mechanics yourself as a hobby then it shouldn't cost too much and will be very rewarding. Good luck and keep us informed on your progress :-)

Interesting reg number! If it's transferable it may be worth quite a bit.

Thanks BMC will look into nuts next weekend weather permitting, didn't have much time to play today. It has had a lot of the underneath welding completed leaving the spring hangers and a hole in the floor to do. The previous owner left it for repair then legged it without paying the bill. The other good news is the welding man has voluntered to finish the work if I dont think i will be able to, I want to give it a go though as I have had a mig for a few years and never really used it. It was running when driven to the welders and the brakes and clutch had not seized on when we towed it home today, got to be a good sign, also the speedo works better than the one in my series II. Its a 61 apparently (stiil waiting for the V5) so has the weird flashing brake lights set up. The boot is also full of spares so should get me money back on ebay if its too rotten :lol:

Yes - it looks a bit low at the rear - hence my 'brave man' comment. But if you know the spring hangers need repairing - then at least you won't get a nasty surprise there!

Thats a Northern Ireland number plate, pretty sure EZ is a Belfast reg. Must be a wee bit later than 1961 though.

Had a play with it today, battery been on charge all day and night but its dead just span the starter motor really slowly without engaging not suprising really, Left the charger connected and am pleased to say the sidelights work as do the wipers and indicators on one side, No clicking from the fuel pump so probably needs the contacts cleaning Gen and oil light work as does the dipswitch and both headlights so thats all good news. Had a quick go with the maguires clay bar and the paintwork doesn't seem too bad and came up well, I will have to try a whole panel followed by polish and waxing to see for sure.
