Amber warning light?

Post by jeffrerw »

Hi all,
Could anyone tell me what the amber warning light at the left of the speedo is please?
I've checked my manuals and surfed the net but can't find it in writing.
I assume it's oil pressure, but wasn't sure.
It's on a 1969 Traveller
Thanks
Rob

If the light is coming ON when the engine is running - test it by pulling the wire connection off the top of the oil filter casing. If that puts the light out -then indeed it was indicating to you that the filter is blocked! Remedy is obvious - just be careful not to lose the steel plate and spring that seal the filter cartridge inside the case.
If however the light comes on when you first switch on the IGN - and then goes out when you start the engine - that's the oil pressure 'low' warning light. It must not come on when the engine is running! Maybe a flicker at idle is ok - but any more indicates a v worn engine.
