All those that normally attend I expect, other than those that are going for the Mini Plant tour and/or the drive through Oxford of course.

I haven't been before. I'm not going on the tour of the Mini plant, nor on the drive through Oxford. Hope the Oxford drive raises awareness of the Minor in the local area :)

Mini Plant is on Saturday, cavalcade Sunday AM, AGM Sunday PM, so there's no conflict, one can do all three, and I am.

bmcecosse wrote:So - Committee members are appointed by - the Committee!! Now there's a 'clique' if ever I heard of one ! Any other Society/Club I have been involved with - the Committee members (including re-election applications in rotation) are voted openly by the Members attending the AGM!! I've never heard of a closed shop Committee before!
I must admit that I too would like to see more input from the membership, and by that I don't simply mean those that are already involved at Branch level.

Please note that this is not a negative criticism, it is just another positive suggestion.

pqc520 - If you hold your 'National' within reasonable reach of my home
Its actually OUR National
And it needs to be arranged for a location where hopefully enough members will attend so that hopefully the costs will be recovered, which I hate to say is unlikely to be in Scotland due to low numbers of members in that area.
Cheers

Members currently have to pay to attend the National Rally. The AGM is free though... :)

And to be fair, even when we arranged it at Braemore numbers were quite low.

I know Bill it made by far the biggest loss ever of a National Rally lets hope more make an effort for this one down south otherwise they are all likely to be in the Midlands region in future as I think the last really successful one was at Knebworth.

From the financial POV Braemore was poor (and also for travelling for anyone caught in traffic on the Sunday evening!) but as a rally I'd say fantastic: perfect weather, excellent catering, good stalls, good toilets.

As regards paying to enter a rally: There was a rumpus some years ago when the whole membership paid £1 to fund a "free" rally. This is another can of worms best not opened. The Club underwrites the cost of the rally, but those attending pay a fair price. The AGM should remain free to attend.

profit or no profit

the rally should still be held in all areas so as to get a more varied venues

and not just those areas that make money

Blithering brainfog, Batman.

How did we drift into discussion of the National (yet again  ) on a thread about the AGM?
