I have just dug out a cylinder head that i took off a 1275 Midget engine a few years back and it is a 12G940 casting, but has 12G938 and the letter "U" stamped near the thermostat housing
The stamping looks original and similar to that i have seen on 11 stud Mini heads, but this is a 9 stud head and the only none standard thing i can see is that it is fitted with double valve springs
Any idea's as i know some of you are hot on the head numbers!
my midget engine was the same.

2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block
Not heard of the '938' version - but as the others say - it looks like Midget head because of the double springs. Standard size valves - so NOT the bigger inlet valved MG Metro head (which was also 9 hole) or the similar S head which was 11 hole!
