Does this mean that one cannot remove the hypothetical except as part of a block of three? Ie would one need to have three people willing to take on the responsibility of the three posts to remove the one hypothetical underperformer?

The committee members come up for re-election on a 3 year rotation. That does not stop them being elected or un elected individually. The difficulty is finding out in advance which members of the committee are due for re-election.

Which brings us back to the question of poor communication, a subject I brought up on a number of occasions at committee, and something that this site could readily assist with.

PS Not going to propose me then Mike

We'll discuss it at the next branch or liaison meeting. What post did you have in mind? .

Just out fo the blue, but how much time would it normally take per month to be a committee member?

That depends on how much you want to put into it, it is not simply a case of attending committee meetings.

I was, and still am, willing and able, particularly now that I have taken early retirement, to actively contribute to the future of the Club.

Perhaps, although I would probably disagree. However what has to be considered is that these have to be funded by the memberships subscriptions.

Send me a PM Mike, although don't such proposals have to be notified to the Committee within a certain time prior to the AGM?

Committee members get 'expenses' ! I thought it was all done for the love of the car! Is this public knowledge ? And at what rate are these expenses paid - is this information available ?

Being a Committee Member (which goes with my position as Regalia Manager) the only expenses I get are a re-imbursement for petrol if I go up to collect the regalia from the Office in Derby, and I can claim for petrol to attend Committee Meetings. If I've entered my car for a rally, but am taking the regalia I dont claim any expenses for petrol, although in theory I could.

The expenses system was set up so all members from all walks of life could volunteer to help out, not just the ones who could afford to donate the petrol to get themselves there. The expenses are only "out of pocket". The Club is still run by volunteers to give their time gladly and freely. :D

Thanks for that - so not '£1' per mile then !
I bet there are many non-committee members who put in plenty of miles 'for the Club' and don't get a penny!

It's pretty standard to pay expenses for committee meetings, I'd have been astounded if the MMOC didn't. As Lou says, not paying expenses would rather limit the committee to the well-off.

Hotel accomodation and a daily allowance is also payable if required, for the same reasons.

I am sure the committee would advise you if requested to do so.

Before everone goes madly applying for committee posts first consider what position you wish to apply for, do you have any experience in that position, can you commit the time and can you be of benefit to the membership?

Just another word of caution, please remember that you can only apply for a specific position. You will have to apply in writing and go through a formal interview, like any other job interview.
