I didn't realise that people had to send their issues to the website as well as the committee prior to the AGM! Or is that just an assumption?Well, it looks like everyone is happy.
Hopefully anyone with concerns has put them in writing through the correct chanels (less than a a few weeks left before the deadline).
true - but human nature suggests that the same people will be doing it this year as did it after last year's AGM.It will be too late moaning about it afterwards.
Committee members are put up for re-election on a rotation basis (IIRC it will be the longest serving 3 members of the committee).Just that I understand some people would like to experience those positions.
Maybe on a rotation basis. And apply before the AGM
Not sure who that is this year, however nobody seems to object to the re-election when under the spot light.
Most of the committee have my complete admiration as they do a lot for little reward. However this method of re-election of 3 in a block does not allow for an easy replacement of any committee member that isn't performing (hyperthetcally speaking of course).

An incorrect assumption Ray. As you should know as a Moderator, one of my functions is to put to the committee any points raised on here, although I would rather they were sent to me by PM. However as yet I have received very few, and in fact have assisted some members in submitting their queries direct to the committee. Perhaps the others are following the correct procedures already, as explained by me on a number of previous occasions. Although the variance between what was posted here about the National, and what was reported in Minor Matters suggests not in this particular instance. Only the AGM will tell.rayofleamington wrote: I didn't realise that people had to send their issues to the website as well as the committee prior to the AGM! Or is that just an assumption?

Perhaps, hence my first comments. However I have also received comments from some that do not use this board at all, or at least very rarely.rayofleamington wrote: true - but human nature suggests that the same people will be doing it this year as did it after last year's AGM.

So true.

I've never been asked for my card. If you want to ask a question you will need to be able to shout out your name and membership number loudly and slowly ;-) and probably twice.OOOh, I might possible be able to attend then. What do I need to do to turn up?
Just turn up with membership card?

Yes, and no.Judge wrote:rayofleamington wrote: As you should know as a Moderator, one of my functions is to put to the committee any points raised on herebigginger wrote: It is? Is that true of all of us, then?
Whilst on this subject, I have just this week received a response from the committee to two questions put to them earlier in the year.
Question: What is the Official current number of MMOC members.
Answer: 9,376 individual members + additional family members which could be in the region of 3 or 4 thousand.
Question: Why were the East Sussex Morris Minor Club not allowed to advertise their Bentley Wildfowl Rally in Minor Matters.
Answer:. They are not an official MMOC branch (and do not wish to be even after repeated requests). They can of course advertise their event(s) in the 'other events' section of the magazine.

How about if you were to stand up and say something like:Squiggle wrote: At the AGM, I would find it difficult to say .... actually I'd like to be elected when I've heard existing members say something like....if there are no objections I'd like to remain in office.
"I've absolutely no objection to your standing for the office and I would like to stand too."
I suspect that part of the package of being a member of the committee is that you're going to live with finding people offended by your decisions no matter what you decide. You can't please all of the people and all that.Squiggle wrote: It would sound like I'm objecting to that person rather than I'd like to serve the club in that position.
Does this make any sense? It's hard to express it clearly via the internet.
I really apologise if this is clearly stated somewhere.
Thanks for e-listening.
Or to put it another way, perhaps the difficulty of standing up and offending the present incumbant reflects the difficulty of being on the committee and accounting for yourself to the members.
If I can get to the agm (not looking likely at present) I'll second you.

Provided that the rest of the committee, whether it be existing members or new, were open to new ideas, I personally would be more than happy to stand.
Would anyone be prepared to propose and second me
