orange lights

From my reading of it, one is the oil pressure light and the other a differential oil pressure warning, which tells you when the oil filter is clogged. Does the left one come on when you switch on the ignition and then go off after the engine is started? -which is how the oil pressure light behaves when things are working as they should...

The one on the right is the low oil pressure light which should go out as soon as the engine is running. If it flickers at tickover then increase the tickover speed slightly. It is generally an indication of a worn engine. It should operate below 8psi.
The one on the left is the oil filter blocked warning light. I have never seen one lit so I guess it only works when the filter hasn't been changed for 20000 miles. Most filters haven't got a warning light anyway.

Same thing, isn't it..... I don't think Dru meant the "diff" oil pressure but a "difference" in pressure across the inlet and outlet of the filter.... ?bigginger wrote:Nope, engine oil filter blocked warning, as has just been said - just wanted to make it clearDru wrote: the other a differential oil pressure warning

I' had a MG 1275 engine fail due to lack of a filter blocked sensor. Filter was changed when the engine was fitted 2 weeks earlier. The one on the left is the oil filter blocked warning light. I have never seen one lit so I guess it only works when the filter hasn't been changed for 20000 miles. Most filters haven't got a warning light anyway.

where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block

I don't know any other car (maybe A40?) which has this differential pressure oil filter blocked warning light! Dru is correct - it does measure the differential pressure across the filter element. Of course - since lots of cars have lost the plate and/or spring under the filter element, there is no chance of the filter blocking anyway!
