Progress update...nearly there!

Post by youngun »

Got off my backside and did the engine bay tie plate yesterday. Worryingly straightforward job, and the repair panel needed no adjustment....whats up with that  !!
Next job is the chassis leg, then its just a bit of seam welding here and there....and dare i say it we're done!!

Nope, I'm getting a photobucket exception page.
the link you posted is:
http://s166.photobucket.com/albums/u118 ... 8006-1.jpg

http://s166.photobucket.com/albums/u118/yamahafs1e/
leads to your whole collection (which is huge).

http://s166.photobucket.com/albums/u118 ... C00057.jpg

Should lead to a picture of the engine bay (nasty, not for the faint hearted)

I've tinkered with the link but can't get it to work. Are you sure there isn't dsc missing from the file name? and some other things?
%A4t doesn't look very useful either.

it's coming on well - I had a look through your album and can see a lot of hours have gone in there.

I'm only looking to avoid moving cars to put the 14yr old nissan in my garage for some MOT welding :(

Those links work fine.
I'm really impress with the quality of your welding, mine never comes out as even looking for more than an inch at a time :(

I wish :) usually the best looking weld had missed the joint completely
Maybe with an electronic welding mask I would have done better.

Yes, I've been welding for donkey's years, yet bought my first light-sensitive mask a couple of years back - and my welding improved enormously overnight! I suppose it makes sense - if you can see in detail what you're doing, it's bound to come out better.....

I am still trying to get used to using one, it is good but I do find myself picking up the hand held face mask alot of the time

Chassis leg time this weekend. I can see how it goes together. but the flange repair panel that goes inside the original part of the leg has a threaded plate welded onto it. It doesnt look like its ever had anything attached to it so i assume its part of what morris used to convert cars to LH drive? If so i'll cut that out and get on with the chassis leg!

That is where the clutch pedal would be on a LHD car, it shouldn't stop the new chassis leg section going in.
