If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
Only been out for a short drive after uni this evening and found it pretty different from driving that spanky new corsa I learnt to drive in.
The brakes are what I'd call 'interesting'. I didn't know the brakes had minds of their own . I put my foot on the brakes and it seems to think "oh shall I brake?" then it decides it wants to

well done i remember my first drive on my own it felt strange,as regards the brakes they work well if you keep them adjusted up.remember to brake much earlier than you would in the car you learnt to drive in.learn to anticiapate the road ahead.also remember that not everyone on the road drives according to the highway code,so plan ahead and watch out for people pulling out in frount of you because you are in a moggy, they seem to think you are going to potter about at 20 mph, when you can keep up with the traffic flow.above all enjoy it

I've always found the brakes on my Morris worked excellently. Stopped my car and myself plowing into a small car full of teenagers who decided pulling out infront of me suddenly was a smart thing to do. Certainly did squeal alot as the tyres all locked.
Though I did spend £100 on last brake maintenance (which was also the first as I've not had it long) so the new components and recent adjustment might have aided things slightly.

Yes - the standard brakes in good order will lock the tyres up nicely. What they won't do - is to do that over and over again while hurtling down a twisting mountain pass! Also the limiting braking factor for a Minor is often the miserable old tyres on the car- since they don't do many miles each year the rubber goes hard and doesn't grip the road very well, especially in the wet! You have been warned.

Heh ... use your gears for brakes then ;)
Seriously though .. driving a morris for any amount of time changes the way you drive in a fundamental way, at least it did me!
I tend to brake earlier, leave a decent sized gap between me and the car in front, I drive 500 yds ahead instead of 100yds and tend to stick to the speed limit - well, you dont get there any quicker if you go over the limit anyway so..., I let people out at junctions, and all in all i feel a much better & safer driver
Talking f passing MOT's I had an interesting experience when MOT'ing my cars this year ... the morris flew through, and the punto failed .. get this .. it needed welding
