I can assure you that you can have too many cars. I must admit that I am now pleased that I thinned mine out, as I can now spend more time driving them than working on them

I got a piece of paper and wrote down exactly what I wanted out of a car and it was a Minor!

After purchasing one it turned out even better than I expected. I had tried Minis & MGs before and they were not what I wanted really. The Minor is! :D :D

I can just remember my Granda driving a smoke grey saloon, he used to drive to our house one road and home another so that he didnt have to turn accross the road..... The car then spent a while in a field on his farm and I used to play in it making driving noises - must admit I still do that especailly when taking a corner much too fast! Dad always had vintage motorbikes and we went to rallies and shows. From about the age of 13 I started wanting a Minor.

We went to see a few and finally bought one in the dark when I was 15. What was going to be a quick tidy up turned into a major job and the car was ready just after I passed my driving test. I still have this car and its used most days. Over the years Ive owned and restored about 8 saloons and 2 travellers and have never owned another make of car. Presently I have 5 cars, which was never meant to happen with the lowlight being the latest addition last September. I think that 3 is quite enough.

The guys at work provide lots of banter about this and say I release my "need for speed" on my days for driving the ambulance!

Too many Minors so little time.....

Back in 1979 I was driving a Renault (spit) when on a Tuesday it blew a piston. Driving to work and back was 26 miles each way, and I needed a car for Wednesday, so Tuesday evening I went round the newsagents looking at notice boards (Remember when there were real shops? Ahh...) and saw "Morris 1000 £50". I didn't have any idea of what it would look like, but thought it would suffice until the weekend, when I could spend time looking for a proper car. Needless to say, by the weekend, I was hooked, and have owned Minors ever since.

Ive always liked classic cars & was looking for something cheap when I was 17 & still learning to drive. I was looking for a mini but got offerd a minor , bought it & promptly broke down several times on the way home  but that did'nt put me off as I passed my test in it & ran it for 9 years. not been without one since

I'd better tell my story as well then :)

I'm not all that sure what got me into these lovely cars... there are not that many about in Holland.
Saw my '55 for sale in a Chrysler garage of all places and made an offer, which got accepted. Thankfully with a full years MOT.I never looked at the underside of the car. I guess I was a bit lucky there :)

Since then this car was one of the reasons to leave the dreaded nether regions of the continent before the dykes would go incontinent.
I have met lots of great people, including a few very special and close friends.

And I did 45+ MPG last week!

what got you into moggies

My poor old Mini (proper) was doing what they do best (rust) and I thought about doing her up and spending money to get her back to the manner in which she was accustomed to being. By chance we were on holiday in Devon and popped over the border into Somerset to the Tim Lang morris minor emporium ( I love that word!!) and after talking to him I was convinced that my next automobile would be a Morris traveller.
