engine trouble

Post by edd »

Just got the engine back in the car after a bottom end rebuild  .
It started first time so thanks for the help ive recived from this site. anyway it dosnt seem to want to idle smoothly and seems to warm up v quickly. ive checked the mixture by lifting the piston and theres no change of speed. any ideas?

the other point is the manifold seems to be blowing from no 4 cylinder. there is a new gasket and ive checked the tigtness of the fixings. any ideas as to why is blowing and a possible cure?

Cheers

Edd

engine

If it is blowing badly from number four at the manifold
gasket then that is probably why it is not ticking over evenly.
As to why it should be blowing? With a new gasket then either
the manifold face or the engine face are not flat or have a
foreign body preventing a gas tight joint.

It could also be causing an inlet air leak (or you may have one anyway) which would explain the rise in engine temperature.
