I don't think you need to plane the wood on the doors. I seem to remember you adjust the hinges, but I've forgotten how.

Even if you unscrew the lock it shouldn't fall off because its held on by a retaining screw.

there is one way that might work (bit like removing the rotor arm though) remofe the handle, remove the square bar from it, refit so that it can be put in and out when needed. then when you dont want people opening it, just remove the bar!

kinda like a house door!

alternativly, if we cant stop people operating the locking mechanism then maybe we could block it.
One way might be to fit a solenoid ("door popper") inside the door that can be operated remotly so that in one position id does not interfere with the rods, in the other position it would block them.
