ello
any recommendations for the best place to get a locking petrol cap?
I wanna chrome/stainless one
the one which was already on the van was chrome but was so rusted inside that it more or less fell apart when subjected to my rigorous cleaning regime

There are plenty of s/steel locking petrol caps available and they all seem to do the job for which they were intended. Any supplier in Minor Matters should be able to help you.

My usual suppliers only seem to be stocking black plastic ones (that's if they are in stock at all)

When you do get one make sure it's the type with a built in breather hole. I was stuck by the roadside for about an hour at night trying to work out why the car wouldn't go, simply because there was an airlock after the locking cap didn't have a breather!

If you're going to use the van daily in winter then also look for a cap with a cover over the keyhole to keep the rain out. This stops the lock freezing solid when it (a) rains and (b) there's a frost. One feels awfully stupid working on a frozen petrol cap wuth de-icer for ten minutes on a petrol station forecourt.

Right, after finding the filler cap dangling on its chain this morning I decided it was time to fit a locking cap.
Questions questions...
Would a locking cap locate onto the same fitting that a non-locking cap goes onto, or do I need to get a complete cap/pipe fitting assembly?
There are plenty available on the Interweb suitable for Minis, and this one

...which appears to be suitable for lots and lots of cars but fails to mention Morrises.
Do you suppose that these would be suitable?

There is normally a collar which fits onto the filler pipe for the cap to lock on to.
Any Morris Minor parts supplier should be able to supply a locking petrol cap

Thanks, I hadn't heard of Tom Roy. Though he only seems to list a black locking filler cap, as do the other online dealers I've checked out. I'll try phoning.
