Hi I'm new here with some questions
Hi,
I want to buy a Morris Traveller but don't know if I'll be able to hack it as my daily. I have owned a Mini clubman estate in the past and just sold my VW camper that I have owned for 3 years. Surely the Moggy won't be much different from those 2?!?!?
Does it have a reasonable heater? and can they keep up with traffic? My old van sat happily at 50mph so I'm not expecting much faster than that.
What do you all think.
Oh and I'm Al, pleased to meet you all.
Al

Hi Al. I suspect you'll find a Minor 1000 is faster and more comfortable to drive than a VW camper (though possibly not as comfortable to sleep in ;)). I use mine as a daily driver - over 12,500 miles in the past year! The heater isn't bad if it's in good working order and your door seals are in good condition (if the doors leak you lose all the warm air).

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
Traveller is great - if you can keep the timber in good condition, as well as the normal rust problems that plague Minors! I would say for everyday use - a 2 door saloon will be a better proposition provided you don't really need the very useful carrying capacity of the Traveller for golf sticks etc.

Well I actually need the traveller as I play in various bands and need the space for my kit. Also I still want to go camping so need the space for a tent and all the other stuff that goes with camping trips.
I was toying with the idea of growing up and getting a sensible car but at 23 I'm not quite ready for that malarky yet!!!!
Bring on the novelty!!!

Just remembered (forcibly) a good point if you have a well loaded Traveller- the brakes work much better forward than in reverse. The thought struck me at the same moment I struck the car behind as I was reversing into a space by the road..on a hill.. with a full load...
Luckily only touched enough to set off one of those horrible car alarms that no-one (fortunately in this case!) takes a blind bit of notice of!
As a strange aside, coming from having previously driven a Xantia estate(2'6" longer) I discovered that the useable load space in the Traveller is very slightly greater
, so yes, very practical daily driver, as long as you're not in a rush to climb hills!
