It now says: The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing.

Wether he ended it or ebay did, I'm not sure.
If ebay removed it, it would say 'no longer available'

Ah, wasn't sure what it said in that case. So he's either took the hint, or done a deal with someone then...
cheers

Thanks folks. Sorry to be so blunt but the sad truth of the matter is that it's as much our responsibility as anyone elses.

I had mailed the seller to tell him it was an illegal sale. So he could have been genuinely ignorant of the law....
or he could have offered it to the current highest bidder.

they should be cos they are acting illegally. if they adjusted their listing perameters so 'V5' only was a tick box option (so you still list it as with a car for example) and could not be used in the description then it would help make it more difficult for a seller.

To proove a point I bought a current V5 and matching plates via ebay (obviously without any criminal intent), after reporting the listing to ebay. Ebay did not remove the listing therefore broke their own policies and the law...

I was going to write an article for the national papers, with proof that ebay allowed an illegal sale after being informed, and how they are helping car theives. I figured a hounding in the press would make ebay take notice.

Funnily enough the seller took my money but didn't deliver! So the egg was on my face and I could hardly get the police involved as I'd get in hot water
This was about 4 years ago and I've never repeated the excercise.

So who's up for the challenge?
