Front wngs

Post by les »

My drivers side wing is such a bad fit that I'm throwing it, shame really as its been painted and fitted out. I'm going to buy new so has anyone recently bought one that fits, if so from where? I don't care how much it costs. I've had it up to here with these crap panels.

I would have said Hardrian a few months ago, but they seem to have forgotten to do any sort of quality control recently, and some really desperate panels have been sent out. So I'd probably now suggest Heritage. If you are able go and collect the wing and take a headlamp outer bezel with you. Then disregard any that have an almost hexagonal headlamp radius. You may also need to move the front retaining ring as this is sometimes set too low to the right. The same panel might need tapping up to straighten it out.
Some will not bother doing this but it depends on your time and desire for the best possible finish :D

I'm afraid I agree Les. Its worse if one relies on bodyshops for this work to be done as costs can soon escalate, due to simply making a panel fit and upto a decent standard.

I can well see that! I've spent days trying to get a decent fit, including cutting and welding the front profile, the wing sits 1inch higher than the bumper, the hockey stick holes are 1/2 inch to the left and too high, and the profile near the door looks wrong. It's a nice colour though!

Bought a heritage wing the other day, not tried it yet, so fingers crossed. I may soon have a wing available if anyone is interested, it's been carefully prepared, primed and shines in trafalgar blue, it doesn't fit though!
