I had my card skimmed around 8 years ago in a local garage. This caused me (and others) no end of bother as the bank also forgot to put a note on my account to this effect and i was charged for all the bounced transactions - took £2.5 k, but was refunded after a while, but it was a couple of months till things settled down. The crook didn't get much of a punishment despite hauling in just under £1m - he sent the cloned details to his mates in the manchester area (boasted that he didn't do anything wrong as he didn't actually use the cards). My internet account was also swiped about 2 years ago, but I was refunded immediately (inside job).
Net result is I won't use my card in certain establishments - especially petrol stations.
Technology - you can keep it.
