Morris Minor 1000 insurance???
HI there. I am hoping to get a Minor traveller 1098cc for when I learn to drive and as my first car to keep for a long time. I am 16 now going on 17 in January and have phones AON and seen on FJs site that you can only get insurance at 21 or 25+.
Does anyone know an insurance company that will insure me (a 17 yo) on a standard Morris minor 1000? I will look around at other companies, but the best advice is from the people in experience or that know.
Thanks guys
Steve

If you are a club member and AON refuse to insure you at 17, please contact Club Secretary (Ray Newell) asap. The club has always worked hard to ensure young members get a fair deal on insurance via the club scheme.

Hi Stephen, I'm 17 at the moment footman james have told me they won't cover me on my provisional licence. However as soon as I pass my test they will be willing to cover me so you may just have to wait until you pass.
I asked Aon aswell and they gave me a quote for a 17 yearold.
If they really refuse to give you a quote then just phone up another day and speak to a different person!

It's still the same, some companies will not insure 17 years olds on cars at all. The companies that do will still insure you whether you are a named driver or just on the policy under someone elses name.
Yes it reduces the cost put doesn't affect whether they will cover you or not.

Also, if you are a named driver on someone else's policy then you can't drive the car more than the policyholder or you are committing insurance fraud.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
CIS used to be 'understanding' with younger drivers.
It is absolutely verbotten to insure a car in an older persons's name with you as the second driver - UNLESS the older driver really IS the main driver, and drives the car more than you. Cops are really cracking down on this now. My daughter's Mini was insured that way - I simply used the car to work twice a week, which easily out mileaged her use of the car at the week-end. Snag is of course - during that time she didn't build up any No Claims Bonus for herself - and had to start almost from scratch after she turned 21 and insured her own car. Oddly enough - she recently added me to her policy - and the cost went down by £20. They obviously haven't seen my driving!

Already mentioned, HIC on 08451 290290
For price alone there's no beating them.
I've never cared about service or claims so I cant comment on them for that.
Insurance is nothing bar an expensive bit of paper to show the police as far as I'm concerned.
(they do offer agreed value though, if your mog is worth anything)

I insured my daughter as a learner driver on my policy with AON for a very reasonable premium and she learned to drive the Series MM. I maintained her on the policy after she passed her test and then she had her own policy for her Traveller with me as a named driver. She was 18 -19 when she started driving. I had no problems getting the insurance cover.
