Hi guys
I'm pretty sue this has been discussed multiple times but I can't remember where, but the long and the short of it is I want my standard rims banding by about 2 inches (ish) for a custom project. Can anyone point me in the direction of someone in the Dorset area that can undertake this work as I am currently residing in Bournemouth.
Cheers guys
Ben
There are firms who can do the work properly but be prepared to pay a lot of money.
I seem to think £50-60 per wheel is what you need to budget.
In fact I remember seeing that a set of Minilite copies was around the same cost as having a standard set of steels widened by a company who can provide a insurance certified job.
When I was a boy racer - in an MM!! I had some wheels banded by 4 inches! I dont know what I had in mind, but in hindsight I think I was trying to make it float! but I never even got round to putting tyres on them and I dont remember what happened to them (probably best)
I used to be rally co-ordinator where I used to work (STC) and I fondly remember coming 1st on one occasion! Up against some serious metal - mk1 Cortinas (estates), Anglias and Marinas!
Ahh - but you weren't up against me and my Rally Minor ! Joined the local motor club - fancy Cortina GTs/big engine Anglias etc etc - we cleaned up on the very first event! And many thereafter. Have to say - it was mostly due to my ace navigator, and my Wolseley brakes of course.
Ahh, but you have no wheelcaps! all that reduction in unsprung weight!
Our rallys were all on the road! and designed to average a speed of 30MPH with penalties for arriving late - and early! We used to get about a dozen or so contending and always finished at a pub!
Same here - that picture was taken on a 'driving test' they had along the way, just for extra fun, on this all-night event. It's early morning - hence spot lights turned round to prevent breakages! No pub though - drinking and driving!!! Tuttttt.
Actually I've a brand new set in the shed - that are remote controled
None of your fancy electrics but three bowden type cables with a joy stick on end that mounts under the dash etc.
