Heater Leak

Post by DavetheMinor »

New to Minors - got the car running yesterday to find that there is a drip/leak somewhere in the heater system inside the car - it's OK from bulkhead forward. Valve opens and closes OK now and hot water is returning to block.

There was no time to see where the leaks were - is there a frequent problem to check for or is it probably a bad hose?

The car had lost a core plug in storage (5 years) so has the heater matrix got iced and fractured?

Thanks.

Could be a bad hose/hose connection inside the car where they join to heater matrix or a matrix thats given up its will to retain water!
Mine didn't leak before the cars layup, but it leaked when I got it going again (and my spare did too!)
Have a look (not all that easy under/behind the dash) and establish where its coming from and source replacement - hoses or matrix.

Will do - I was just short of time yesterday. I work away during the week and wanted to get all my parts and answers lined up before the next fix session!

Just wondered of there was an obvious or freuwent problem that Minor owners suffer with matrixes after lay up.
