Whats wrong with the 1100 head. It looks just the same as the Minor one, with the addition of a green warning light at the top. Which is what I wanted for the indicator warning light. At the moment I am using the left hand amber one , used for blocked oil filter I think

Hmm - when said '1100' head - I though you meant from an Austin/Morris 1100 car. My speedo in the 1098 Minor is 1504 tpm to match 4.22 diff.

the speedo agrees with the flashing signs within about 1 mph - and agrees with 56 mph behind trucks !
I've never had one yet that was anywhere near as close!
Most cars will read close to 60 when doing 90kph (behind a truck)

My current Eurobox is exactly 10% over the sat nav at all speeds. The sat nav itself is more accurate than I ever expected.

where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block :(

Sat nav will be deadly accurate unless confused by overbridges and perhaps very heavy cloud/rain. My Vauxhall Meriva reads dead on speed as closely as I can see the needle.

Both modern's we have and both our daughters cars are the same.

Bmc, have you seen this smiths speedo manual. has some bits about calibrating towards the end
http://tr6.danielsonfamily.org/Files/SpeedoRepair.pdf
as you know what tpm you need it should be possible to put the innards from another smiths speedo into your minor one. its how I did mine when I fitted a sierra box & different ratio diff

Thanks for that link Mogwai! I'm a bit of a fumble fingers with fine work like that - definitely NOT an instrument mechanic !
