There are different float bowls available to suit all angles - but of course not cheap.

I think the float bowls are made for horizontal, 20deg and 30deg, which mine are, and seem to incline nicely to not clash with the damper!
On the Sprite installation the float chambers were mounted outboard of the carbs, but I have squeezed them together although I had to modify the choke fast idle linkage.

Looks very neat and tidy - you have to wonder why they didn't do like that on the Sprite. Easy now to connect the choke cable - although anytime I used twin SUs I only ever connected one choke - it was always enough to get started. You may want a heat shield in there between floats and exhaust.

I think, if anything the float chambers are a bit further away from the exhaust than the standard set up with the single carb but it should be fairy simple to make a heatshield if it does start vapourising.
