Hi Matilda if you click on the technical tips in the l/hand column and go to the section on servicing it tells you where the grease nipples are.
The steering wheel itself doesnt need greasing, is the noise coming from the top of the column just below the steering wheel as there is a felt bush in there but this should not cause a screeching sound, could you be more specific as to where the noise is actually coming from and does it do it all the time.
Cheers

A screeching could be a bent contact for the indicator switch. It's repairable but not an easy job for a novice I'm afraid - perhaps there's someone close who could take a look?
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

But IIRC it may need oiling - agreed though, unlikely to cause screeching

It can however make a very irritating squeak when the wheel is moved. Slight wheel movements in my car made a series of clicks. If this is the problem, the remedy is to remove the felt bush, (discard if very flattened and unyielding), and replace, after soaking overnight in engine oil. A messy job, but not too difficult.

hi thanks for the replies. it's not a constant noise but only started happening a while ago. it sounds like it's coming from the steering wheel coloumn. when it happens its noitceably loud and annoying a cross between a sqweak and a screech. :-?
