To Paint or not to Paint?
Hi all, Im busy replacing most of the suspension parts on my Minor. Im starting with the front and have purchased new drums, trunnions, shockers, bump stops etc. I have all the suspension off the car and hope to have the kigpins, tie rods, torsion bars, backplates etc sandblasted.
My question is.... Do I paint the new trunnions, drums etc or just leave them as I purchased them? Is it worth having the other parts blasted or just wire brush them? What kind of paint should I use (if any!)
Thanks Croft

Suppose it all depends on how far you intend to go. Personally if I had got all suspension parts off the car I would have them shotblasted ( or use electrolysis to remove rust) and then paint them all the same colour.
Frosts do a chassis black that may be useful.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Well mine will be black too, with all the new bits I've been adding the underneath now looks remarkably new!! Not bad for a car that's been sat in a garage for 20 years and I now feel I'm getting somewhere. When my dad sees it I don't think he'll recognise the old gal.

Under the inch or so of gunk and underseal my chassis legs were body colour, but its clearly just overspray from when the body was done!
I would paint all the suspension parts, keeps it all looking tidy. Get the stuff sandblasted it saves so much faffing about with wire brushes.

Ultimate rust cure for your moggy....paint it brown, at least that way you dont notice the rust as much!!
