Pull starter solenoid connection

Post by jgunson »

I'm having problems with my pull start solenoid connection behind the dash. I set it up so it works well but over 20 - 30 starts the steel cable slips so that the car no longer starts. I can't tighten the lock screw up any more than I am doing already. Has anybody had a similar problem and found a neat solution?

Don't pull so hard ? Only needs a gentle tug as I remember.

Or - is there room to put an additional grip on the cable ?

Is that no weetabix before driving the traveller then?
There might just be enough room for me to drill and tap the coupling for another bolt onto the cable.

You can cut a cable nipple from the inside of an old domestic electric plug and maybe use that ?
