Tomorrow's Morris 1000...

Post by shellgrotto »

Having owned one of these beasts myself, I had to laugh:

A Maestro that 'turns heads wherever it goes'...I bet. Mine used to talk to me, warning me that the petrol was low in faintly Thatcheresque tones. Which was disconcerting. Mind you, I do remember it with a certain wry fondness, so maybe the description isn't so far wide of the mark.

My speedo goes the other way. Max speed so far is 42 MPH. That was on the M1, lane 3, going past Audi, Merc and Bmw.

I had an early 1.3 Montego and quite liked it but thought the Maestro front end looked slightly neater.
Fast forward to around 5 years ago and I bought a late model Maestro diesel as an engine donor for a LDV Cityvan.
High spec, low mileage etc and I was impressed enough to look around for a mint 1.3 auto for my wife only to find they didn't make one - just 1.6 & 2.0 were auto's
The other year I looked at a 1.3 van but total heap so reckon that will be the rare model in the future as if often in that the commercial variants seem to dissapear first.
