Last minute hitch.

Having got most of the car reassembled, apart from the headlamps (need some 2BA screws), my starter solenoid seems to have given up on me!

Looks like I will have bigger biceps in two weeks time................ :D

In the garage till 12:30AM replacing brake pipes, handbrake cables, and a seized rear slave cylinder that only came to light when I tried to adjust the cables (good job I bought a couple of spares Just In Case). Back out to the garage in a minute to try bleeding the system...

PS Now what was it people said when I started planning this trip some several months ago? 'Plenty of time, that's a long way off'

Lintilla is back on the road! :D

Only ran into a couple of slight problems. My Eezibleed cap decided to spray half a bottle of brake fluid on the cabin floor (bodged it with some blu-tak!), then at the start of the test drive the speedo wasn't working (the cable had fallen out somehow). I took her up Crown Point to see the Singing Ringing Tree thingy. I even gave her a quick wash when I got back!

Now might be a good time to start to think about: a. Having a shower, and b. Packing.

I expected it to be a disappointment but it's actually pretty cool up close. It's in a spot with a brilliant view too as long as you face away from the rubbish tip!

Will be setting off once I've distilled three crates of spares down to one. Saloons really do have far less space than a trav... Hope the boot latch manages to hold the load! :)

As expected - I failed on rear brakes / handbrake as I didn't get time to sort them after getting axle oil everywhere from the breather when rolled on to RHS.
The MOT man presumed it was a leaking cylinder as fluid was dripping out and everything was wet!

I failed on a handfull of other things too - all of which were jobs I'd not had time to do.

The most frustrating one was the washer pump would not self prime so it failed on washers. That's now fixed as i got someone to push on the pump whilst I squeezed the bottle. ;-)

I probably would have had time to get it all finished before MOT today but this afternoon I ended up replacing a front sidelight unit and headlights and taking the steering column apart to fix the horn circuit etc... (none of which had been on my to do list).
Last night I lost too much time 'assisting' the ignition lock so that it would not spin in the dash anymore - which it has been doing for many years by the look of it. Added to that I lost one of the sill carpets (due to tiredness) and spent about an hour wandering around unable to remember where it was

The rear brakes need replacing anyway so I'll do that properly over the weekend.

Hopefully see you guys at Crich (presuming that my corrected insurance paperwork comes by Monday)

question is - why has he got brake cylinder, oil and radio installed in the door? No wonder he's having trouble 8)
