Indicator switch problems

Car - Series MM 1952 2 door saloon.
I have wired up the indicator switch to the new wiring loom and the trafficators and indicators work fine. However I cannot get the warning light bulb on the switch to work.
The circuit is wired as per diagram supplied by Autosparks, the switch is wired as per wiring diagram on Workshop Manual P. N28, the bulb is new and tested before fitting and all screw terminals have been checked tight.
Why won't it work????
