The Most Famous Minor?

Post by croft »

I was just wondering what would be classed as the Most Famous Minor? To the general public it might be Lovejoys convertable or the one from Open all Hours but how about you minor enthusiasts? is there one that springs to mind as soon as someone says Morris Minor?

The original factory experimental car I would say! They called it Mosquito - but it was the first Minor.

Lovejoy's all the way!
I grew up watching that with my Grandad (grandparents lived with us).

Other than that, since first considering Minors I've covetted the purple JLH trav, spotted by chance in an article years ago.
What would Macgyver do..?

My guess at famousity:
First position I'd say Nick Mann's - known by almost all (over 40 year old) petrol heads and some of the younger ones.
Then Dot Cotton's green Traveller
Then Nurse Glady's Traveller
Then Lovejoy's various different cars / converted saloon.
Then NWL - which seems only to be known in Minor circles
Then The Archbishop's ex car (Was rallied, then shown and a book written)

Jan 06: The Minor SII Africa adventure: http://www.minor-detour.com
Oct 06: back from Dresden with my Trabant 601 Kombi
Jan 07: back from a month thru North Africa (via Timbuktu) in a S3 Landy
June 07 - back from Zwickau Trabi Treffen
Aug 07 & Aug 08 - back from the Lands End to Orkney in 71 pickup
Sept 2010 - finally gave up breaking down in a SII Landy...
where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block :(

Didn't Nurse Gladys have a 2-door saloon? :-?
