Hi, an old friend has recently died and in his estate is a green Morris Minor 1100 2 door car registered during 1968.
It has not been used for about 6 to 8 years and kept in a garage. It's a bit dusty and needs a good wash and wax and the chrome needs cleaning.The inside is in reasonable condition and up to then a very good reliable vehicle.
We need to sell it and have no idea what would be a sensible price for both the buyer and us. I would welcome your comments.We live in London.javascript:emoticon('')

It's hard to say. You might be best off letting the market decide by putting it on eBay with a good description and lots of photos. Why was it taken off the road? If you can get it through the MOT test without spending a lot, that should increase the value significantly.

An unused 2 door car without MOT is not worth a geat deal unfortunately, but as said above a new MOT will make a lot of difference, the other thing is dont be surprised if the clutch is stuck as well.

mind you if the sills are in good nick brakes and clutch is an easy restoration job, again the main question is was it taken off the road due to mot failure, I would save it If I had the resorces and the time, My car came from the free to a good home part of this forum, it was laid up for 8 years, turned out it was an MOT failiure due to sills and floor rot. The b rakes and the clutch were the easy part, new cilinders and a bit of wet and dry all round, and some new springs, one days work with plenty of WD40, new brake pipe set, then fuel in the tank new battery drain and change fluids and bang the clutch free by jumping it in reverse and forward, works a treat...
about three days asuming the bodys ok it would be away, but then this will ost a few hundred quid including the MOT, and then there is tyres, electrical system, sometimes you get gremlins in the system, more wd and plenty of patience!!!
It depends on weather you have a bit of time to spend on her, if not please don't sell her for scrap there are plenty of people out there who will save it, me included if I didnt have to throw money at the family ford....

Please don't scrap it. Have a look on ebay and see if you see something similar. Someone somewhere will want it, TLC that's all it needs, a nice way to remember your old friend too.

I used to think the same, but these have been reaching £400+ and sometimes much more on ebay recently. Goodness knows why, but the bottome end Minor prices are on the up (at least 25% since easter and often more than double what you'd expect)
The price of a near perfect Minor is still £4k to £6k as far as I can tell.

£150 is weigh in for scrap value these days, depending where you go so depending on the seller, you may find you have to outbid the scrapman
Just seen a nicely restored pickup fetch £6500 on the open market, (owner was asking £7500 pre haggling). Definately more folk wanting pickups and vans than there are decent ones around which is pushing the price up. Conversely theres no shortage of average saloons so you can still have a wide choice around the £1000 mark. Ok it keeps em cheap, but that works against them in that people won't want to spend a fortune restoring them. so many projects are falling prey to the £150 from the scrapper.
Presumably there'll be a balance achieved when they get considerably rarer and prices go up, or more folk catch on to how cheap it is to run one in todays 'rip off Britain' and demand will go up...

Really does depend on the body condition, which also depends on how dry the storage was, and how good a car it was beforehand.
Assuming its sound, and the sills aren't crumbling etc, but needing recommisioning ie: brakes, clutch, tyres, service or whatever. Anyway at least a good going through you may be around the £400 mark as Ray said. If its got body problems start at £150 and go from there.
It it starts runs and drives, and looks ok, more than the £400 area, but it its that good you should probably test it and sell it as a good on the road car.
Have a look on eBay and get a feel for whats about. If you search on finished listings you can see exactly what the auctions made rather than what a live auction is at any one moment.

You don't say where the car is ?? Someone local may be willing to come and have a look at it for you. And is it an 1100 -or a Minor - slightly unclear in your description ? Some pictures would help us - if you can get hold of a digi cam ?
But then London is a big place and its too far for me to travel from Margate and have a look. (If it was savable, there is a danger I'd be tempted which is the last thing I need with too many projects already!)
Someone local may be willing to come and have a look at it for you.
Yes, wherabouts in London are you? There may well be someone on here local to you who can have a look, check condition etc and give you a rough idea of it's value.
I have owned 4 Minors so know where the usual rot spots are and could give you a general idea on condition. I would be happy to have a look and take some photos for posting on this site if you want. Seems a shame to scrap it if it is saveable.
