4 door / 2 door Seats and Seat Covers

Post by minorinterest »

Hi. We're newbies so humour us please. We have a '65 4 door. Will seats or seat covers from a 2 door fit our 4 door? We're guessing the back ones won't but front ones will. Do all front seats tilt forward? Ours do but we don't see the need in a 4 door and wonder if theyr'e from a 2 door?

Thanks, Colin & Tricia

The back rest of the rear seat is the same. The bottom of the rear seat has different front corners (rounded on 4dr 'square' on 2dr) the front seat are the same on both (i'm pretty sure)

Won't the seats from a 2-door fit the 4-door anyway, just not quite as well? you could probably get away with it there would just be less room for getting in the door.

Yes the front seats on a 4 dr are the same as a 2 dr. The base on the 4 dr is cut off at the corners to allow people to get in the car easily. The backrest is the same, although the patterns in the vinyl changed so you need to get all the same pattern othewise it will look odd.

Thanks for all the advice. Went to Ashford show at the weekend and took lots of photos and spoke to some really friendly folk. Now moving ahead again with a bit of refurbing.

Just be careful as 'a bit of refurbing' sometimes leads to a big restoration job!
