Oh, one more thing.... The filter cartridge cam with 2 large rubber O rings, 1 thick and 1 thin. I assume the thick one seals the bowl to the housing? but where does the thin one go pls?

There are about three different sizes of rubber ring. You only use the one that fits best in the groove in your housing (after removing the old one first). If you're lucky it will be one of the two they have included with the filter...

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
The final question - I'll know next time how to do it - Honestly....
Does the large O ring seal sit high up in the filter head as mine doesn't seem to go up past the top plate that the bolt screws into. I can see the seal at the top of the filter bowl and it doesn't look like it is sitting very flat. I haven't put oil in yet as I'm not sure it will seal properly. I can't see an old seal in there already unless its high up - Do I need to poke it out with a screwdriver?
Thanks some more....

Yes, the groove the seal goes in is up past the plate and it is a bit awkward to get at, particularly when you're lying on your back under the car with oil dripping in your face. You need a narrow flat-blade screwdriver to pry the old one out and push the new one in.
