Wide wheels.
Does anyone know whether Minor Development wheels will fit a standard Minor, or do the arches need altering?

The wider wheels from Minor Developements fit a Minor and don't need the wings enlarged in any way (unless you want to). They were specially designed to take the modern tryes but still fit the Minor. No I do not have them (as you can see) but I've seen them fitted to friends cars with no problem.

I run 185/60R14 tyres on Alloys and clearance isn't an issue. The alloys are 5.5". What you do need to make sure is that the offset is sufficient to allow the tyre inner wall to clear the top trunnion.

We have a a customer who has these wheels fitted and has nothing but problems in getting them balanced. They must have been inbalanced from manufacture, and swapping them around the car, re fitting/balancing the tyres has not cured the problem. A one off problem or the norm , I'm not sure.
You will normally find that the Minilight style wheels have a 24mm offset ,this keeps them inside of the arches. We have gone down to 18mm on the front and 15mm on the rear in order to get 195's on a 6 inch rim on the front and 205's on a 6 inch on the back. I 'm currently using 8" rims on my splitty with std Escort Mk 11 offset but these need our 2" oversized rear wings.

I don't have any personally but theres one at work and I have seen them and seen a few minors with them on, they're designed to fit a minor. I didn't realise they were being remade though.wanderinstar wrote:Do you have some? That is rather a sweeping statement if you don't. I believe the original ones were 5" but I believe the latest ones to be 5.5"
There is only about 1" from outside of my tyre to outside of wing and that is on a 3" rim. Granted, my tyres are 155x14.
I really don't fancy the spattery weld holding the rims onto the centres. However I'm no pro welder and have no idea how strong the weld is.We have a a customer who has these wheels fitted and has nothing but problems in getting them balanced.
