Remote Gearbox extension prob

Just bought a 948 and box to replace my 803 and box . The gearbox on the replacement engine has the remote control extension. Can this be replaced with my gearbox endpiece to gain from the replacement engine/gearbox power/ratios but be able to fit the same mountings in my 1956 splitty??

Yes - I think it's an easy enough swap if it is a smooth case 948 box.

hello candy. back up what BMC said, i did that on my '53 when i had 1098 engine and 948 gearbox. really easy mod, and considerably more power if you go with the 1098 engine! the gearbox mod is great as it keeps the feel of an early minor!
