Tourer hood with glass rear window?

Post by m.hunter »

Hello all !

I`m looking for a new 64 tourer hood in Canvas with a glass rear window, does anyone know where I could get one ?

Most only supply with PVC window.

Many Thanks, Rusty.

I would think that you'd have to have one specially made by a company that specialises in hood replacements. They often advertise in the back of high-end classic car magazines.

Look for firms that tailor replacement hoods for Morgans, and you should be on to a winner.

Won't be cheap, though....

I wonder exactly how you would fold it?

Oh, of course! It folds in the middle, doesn't it...

Aha! IIRC my neighbour's MX5 had a glass rear screen - the panel had to be zipped out before the rest of the hood was folded like the hood on a Spitfire. Wonder if there would be enough room to incorporate the detached screen into the folded hood?

Perhaps it could be made to zip out completely? Or would that be too much hassle, do you think?

It would have to be stored elsewhere. There isn't enough room fore to aft - the window would interfere with the back seat accomodation.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
